It has been a wonderful 1+ month holding our 1st proper public casting at Style Kingdom Magazine.
The judges and myself have seen such AMAZING TALENTS!!
Styling challenge for the finalist was Futuristic/Sci-fi Avant Garde.
I would like to thank the judges for taking their time to help judge this event, it has been very successful.

Hey everyone,
I’ve gotten lots of interested residents asking about the difference between the 2 castings Style Kingdom Magazine holds. As I’m quite tired of typing the same things over and over again, this post is to inform everyone on the differences.
1) Style Kingdom Magazine OFFICIAL model’s casting
– ONLY certified models may apply (unless personally invited)
– Resumes to be dropped in the red mailbox located on the reception desk at our in-world office
– There are no styling challenges involved, the management team and I will be selecting a handful based on resume and/or personal experience with the applicants
– Pool of resumes dropped at our office is ALWAYS twice/thrice more than candidates for the public casting. Meaning your resume may well be up against well-established models as well.
– Resumes not selected will be kept in the mailbox for another round of selection but cannot be guaranteed to be picked next round as there will be fresh resumes added for each new round
2) Style Kingdom Magazine’s PUBLIC casting
– Allows both certified & non-certified to take part
– 3 rounds of styling challenges + 1 final challenge
– Transparent score-based system
– Judged on runway + styling skills
– Fair mixture of experienced and new/aspiring models
– Prizes to be won for Top 3 selected at finals
– Top 3 will join the OFFICIAL model’s team

Style Kingdom Magazine’s casting venue has only been allowed access by the candidates, judges & special guests.
As the finals draw near, I would like to share some photos of the venue. I had a fantasy concept in mind for the venue and it was fantastically built by the talented Erica Hastings.

Dear all,
Style Kingdom Magazine’s first proper public casting has been a success, with a total of 26 (daring) applicants received when dateline was due. A handful dropped out once the 1st styling challenge was issued due to sudden RL commitments or because they thought their competitors were too good.
A few more dropped out after the results for the 1st styling challenge were released but the candidates who remained till the final styling challenge have proved to have the passion for wanting to do their best & to be the best in the modeling community by hard work and not by playing dirty games.
I have full respect for all the candidates who got into the finals. Well deserved efforts. As I’ve mentioned, the casting is transparent so here are the prizes the top 3 will be getting.
– A certificate of participation with their respective winning rank.
– A spread in the next Style Kingdom Magazine vol with their (finals styling challenge) outfit.
– A spot in the OFFICIAL model’s team, where they’ll be featured in every magazine without needing to cast for every new vol.
– *Increased* Cash prizes of $10,000L for champion, $8,000L for 2nd place & $4,000L for 3rd place.
There were many who sent me an IM in-world or Facebook messages who missed the dateline for this public casting. Not to worry as there will be another public casting. Details will be given on this blog so please look out for it.

The casting continues and this time, on the 14h Sept, it was decided by me that the 3rd styling challenge was to be Gareth Pugh WINTER inspired.
Gareth Pugh is well known to bring his emotions to his designs and this particular 2013 F/W collection that I chose for the candidates was no easy task to style but it was THE challenge that differentiated the quality of each candidate’s styling skills & creativity!
I would like to personally congratulate the candidates, every one of you showed us the efforts put into researching, thinking and styling for this challenge. I felt every one of you was a winner that night but this is still a casting so here are the results…

Additional remarks – Poses conveyed class, glamour and confidence, and showed off the outfit in a most striking way. The best runway performances are when the poses work harmoniously with the designs and really sell them to the audience. Great stuff.

Additional remarks – Very commanding style, glamorous, high end a spot-on tribute to Gareth’s gothic extravagance.

Additional remarks – Pose with foot up made the skirt stretched, and the other poses were very “dainty” and just not fierce or glamorous to suit the style. She needed to stand closer.

Additional remarks – I can see what she was doing but I feel it was quite flat, too safe and lacking the edgy boldness that Gareth is known for. Her face and skin are problematic as well, she needs some help with it. Her answers for the question of inspiration revealed nothing.

Additional remarks – Floating 3 inches above the ground. Tops and sides of his boots were sticking through the mesh pants. He was breathing and leg was moving during his poses, didn’t look good to me. Hip swinging walk? Not a good walk anyway.
3) Styling = 7/10
Additional remarks – The purple skirt was too bright and old design. Could’ve picked a better design. I liked the mask but I’m not sure how well it fits with Gareth, though the shape of it is sort of in fashion with him. Tulle was digging into his shoulders. He needed help with boot adjustments and other prims, but it was a nice styling effort.

Additional remarks – Absolutely a stunner, something that would light up a whole runway. Very seasonal for the winter style, she nailed the designer’s influence with the fur layering and the jacket and still made it her own. Brilliant.

Additional remarks – Bad shoes. The little diamond hearts give it a tacky touch. The symmetry of the dress was very loosely fitting with Gareth’s signature style, but too loosely. The shoes and hair which didn’t look anything Gareth ruined it for me.

I’m sorry, I know it’s something of a trend right now in SL but I think the teeth with mouth open really makes the avatar lose some class. Just my opinion. But she looked fab otherwise.

Additional remarks – Very good attitude poses for the look, suiting the mood. I saw no prim sinking or other problems. Excellent walk for a Gareth show. There was a noob turn noticed briefly however, so a couple of points were taken for that.

Additional remarks -She put a tremendous amount of thought and care into her styling with intense attention to the details of Garethe’s designs, which absolutely payed off. Nailed it to the floor and made me want her to come back for more.

Additional remarks – She was on the steps and her skirt was being cut off by them. She needed to be in front of the judges, don’t know why she stopped there. Interesting choice of poses though. Different. Points for being different.

Additional remarks – Hair was spot on. Eye makeup was fierce, appropriately goth. Beautiful mesh worn, but it’s an exact replica of an outfit of his right down to the makeup and hair. She didn’t do anything in the way to make it her own so she loses points for that but gains points for trying to do his style justice.

The styling challenges for the candidates continued. Some couldn’t accept the comments of the previous challenge and pulled out but those who took them positively and worked on them, showed fabulous styling skills during the 2nd styling challenge – Film Noir.
As I’ve said on the previous post, all results will be shown transparently. Candidates who wish to ask the judges questions on how to improve, feel free to send them an IM in-world. Overall, the judges & I saw a vast improvement in most candidates and were really pleased!
